Speech from the Organizer
Throughout the global FPD industry market, opportunities and challenges coexist in the Mainland China!
With the successive construction and mass production of several high-generation lines in the Mainland China, two overseas enterprises have been approved to make investment and build factories in China, and domestic and foreign equipment and material manufacturers have accelerated their pace of making investment to build factories in succession. The Mainland China is becoming an important base of the global FPD industry.
With vigorous support of the governments at all levels, four industry gathering regions, i.e., Bohai Coastal Region, Yangtze River Delta Region, South China Region and the central and western regions, formed in the Mainland China have attracted a large number of foreign companies involving equipment, parts, materials, etc. to make investment and build factories, and local supporting supply chain is gradually taking shape.
Meanwhile, the rapid development of FPD industry in the Mainland China is also facing new problems. To solve these problems, the unremitting efforts of enterprises in the industry, policy support of the government and sincere cooperation of domestic and foreign peers are needed. In addition, we also need to share experience and growth opportunities, and jointly promote multilateral cooperation and sustainable development of the industry.
For this reason, China Optics and Optoelectronics Manufacturers Association LCB (“CODA”) and Nikkei BP have once again joined hands to hold “FPD International CHINA 2011/ Beijing Summit”. I believe that centering on the theme of “Cooperation, Innovation and Development—Jointly Promoting the Development of China’s FPD Industry”, this global industry event will once again make positive contributions to promoting the development of China’s FPD industry and promoting international cooperation in the FPD industry. Warmly welcome our colleagues in the global industry to actively pay attention to and participate in this Summit!
I wish the “FPD International CHINA 2011/ Beijing Summit” a complete success!
The Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11th severely hit the Japan’s manufacturing industry. The supply chain was cut off, electronic equipment parts were in short supply, the motor vehicle factories were forced to drastically reduce the production scale for a time, and the power shortage rapidly followed. Japan’s manufacturing industry is trying to overcome this unprecedented national disaster through various methods and wisdom. Four months later after the earthquake disaster, Japan’s manufacturing industry ensured the same production capacity as the previous year in a very short time. Such recovery ability has been praised by the global industry and it has started the road to rejuvenation in a down-to-earth manner.
What should Japan do to speed up this pace? That is, innovation.
FPD industry is at a big turning point. Digital TV has been close to saturation on the whole, and TV demand has declined continuously. What will drive the FPD industry in the future? The savior at this moment is the smart phone. In Japan, more than half of mobile phone shipment is smart phone. The emerging electronic products have changed the people’s life style or working mode to a great extent, and FPD industry is expected to grow better.
Against this background, following the success in the last year, Nikkei BP and CODA jointly hold the FPD International CHINA 2011/ Beijing Summit. The theme of this year is “Jointly Promoting the Development of China’s FPD Industry”. It’s believed that the exchanges in this Summit can promote industrial communication between China and Japan, accelerate the rejuvenation of Japan and contribute to the development of global FPD industry.
