Summary
With the adjustment of the structure and layout of global FPD industry, the Mainland China has become a new investment hotspot in the global FPD industry. The new production lines that are built and put into operation successively have formed four industry gathering regions, i.e., Bohai Coastal Region centering on Beijing, Yangtze River Delta Region centering on Shanghai, Jiangsu and Anhui, South China Region centering on Guangdong, and the central and western regions centering on Chengdu and Wuhan. To this end, various major material and equipment manufacturers all over the world have set up factories in China, and a supply chain based on China is taking shape. So far, China’s FPD industry has entered a critical period of rapid development.
In order to promote the sustainable and healthy development of China’s FPD industry, China Optics and Optoelectronics Manufacturers Association LCB (hereinafter referred to as “CODA”) has fully played the role of bridge of the Association and actively expanded international exchanges and cooperation. Dongsheng Wang, the President of CODA personally held talks with Nikkei BP on the development of China’s FPD industry. After the consultation and negotiation for many times, CODA and Nikkei BP finally reached a consensus on cooperation and proposed to gradually move the Asia-Pacific FPD High-end Forum and Exhibition annually held by Nikkei BP in Japan to Beijing. From 2010, FPD International CHINA will be held once a year in Beijing. Meanwhile, various technical exchanges and summit forums will also be held to provide a higher-level and higher-standard platform for China’s FPD industry, so as to enhance the exchanges and cooperation among enterprises in the global FPD industry, and facilitate the development of industry-university-research integration in China’s FPD industry and the promotion of independent innovation capability.
The 1st FPD International CHINA 2010/Summit and Seminar will be held in Beijing National Convention Center on December 10th, 2010. This event is held for the first time and only lasts for one day. From 2011, this event will gradually expand the conference scale and add exhibition, display and other contents.
The purport of FPD International CHINA 2010 is “Cooperation, Innovation and Development”, and the theme of Summit 2010 is “Opportunities and Challenges of China’s FPD Industry”. The representatives from well-known enterprises in FPD industry at home and abroad, including major equipment, parts and material manufacturers and famous research institutions, experts and scholars, about 500 persons, will be invited to attend the event.
This grand meeting will convey relevant information about China’s FPD industrial resources to China, Asia and the world to make the policies and guidelines of the Chinese Government more deeply rooted among the people, and provide and share the latest management and technical information from all over the world, so as to accelerate the professionalization, productization, marketization and internationalization of China’s FPD industry.

Introduction of CODA
CODA, founded in July 1996, is a secondary association affiliated to China Optics and Optoelectronics Manufactures Association, and a national industry association representing China’s FPD industry. The competent department is the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China.
As of 2010, CODA has had 160 member units which are distributed all over China. The members are mainly large and medium-sized LCD manufacturers, main and auxiliary material manufacturers, special equipment manufacturers, scientific research institutions, universities and colleges, etc. engaged in the production, development, research and trade of LCD, organic electroluminescent devices, raw materials, equipment, panels and complete machines.
The highest authority of CODA is the General Assembly, and the leading bodies are the Council and Standing Council elected by the General Assembly. The permanent body is the Secretariat, which is currently set at BOE Technology Group Co., Ltd. In addition to the daily work, it is mainly responsible for industry research, member services, domestic and international exchanges, professional exhibitions, etc.
At present, the main work is as follows: accept the research topics commissioned by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on tariff and environmental protection; reflect the problems that need to be solved urgently in the development of LCD industry to the competent leading department; compile China FPD Yearbook; undertake the international summit of the industry.
Introduction of Nikkei BP
Nikkei BP, established in April 1969 and affiliated to Nihon Keizai Shimbun, the world’s largest comprehensive information institution which mainly publishes economic information, is the largest publishing house in Japan. Focusing on publication business such as the publication of magazines, books, hardcover editions, supplements, etc. and network business, it makes full use of various media and services such as the exhibition, seminar, survey, consulting, etc. to provide cutting-edge information and usher in the change of the times. The mission of Nikkei BP is to persistently bring joy and satisfaction to readers, users and advertisers. The information provided by Nikkei BP is professional and extensive, involving numerous fields such as operation, computer, digital appliance, calculating machine, communication, machinery, architecture, medical treatment, health, environment and entertainment. Many magazines through the interview and edition by full-time reporters are well-known and second to none in their professional fields.
The [FPD International] held by Nikkei BP has been the 17th session as of 2010. This international fair has brought together the design, production technologies and products of FPD application products such as flat panels, manufacturing devices and parts from all over the world, which has made outstanding contributions to the growth and development of FPD industry. In addition, [FPD International Forum] has even brought together the luxurious lineup of lecturers from all over the world and offered a large number of high-level and high-quality lectures every year, which has been highly praised by many FPD technicians.
In FPD International 2009, there were 292 exhibitors, 651 booths and 53,563 visitors. Meanwhile, there were 45 sub-sessions in the Forum, including 3 keynote speeches and 36 professional speeches, involving 154 lectures (114 from Japan and 40 from abroad) in total and 3,695 audiences.
